The Trustees organized and incorporated, June 1893, and our first settled minister on the field arrived in Havre July, 1893.

First church building, called 'the chapel', was located on Havre’s Main Street, with services held there from 1893-1899.

Our second church building (1901-1916) was located on 3rd Street and 4th Avenue. (The building was sold to First Baptist Church, and moved to its present location at 625 4th Avenue - just across the street, second lot, from the Presbyterian Church in its present location)

Construction of the present church, at 701 4th Avenue, began in 1917, with its cornerstone laid in November of that year, by the Masonic Grand Lodge of Montana.

Included in the rich history of the church are the following "first-time" events occurring in Glacier Presbytery:

In 1979 the Presbyterian Churches of Havre and neighboring town of Chinook, 20 miles east of Havre, combined into a common parish and began alternating locations of special services and social events. This bound the two congregations into an enduring, loving relationship. The yoked parish, known as the Bear's Paw Parish because both towns are located in the shadow of the Bear's Paw Mountains to the south, called as its second installed Pastor, the first woman with a sole pastorate within Glacier Presbytery in 1983 - as well as being the first woman pastor in Havre and Chinook. (and later, it became the first church in Glacier Presbytery to set policy for maternity leave!)

After the dissolution of the Bear Paw Parish in 1993, the Havre church entered into a shared ministry agreement with St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Havre, linking these two denominations for the first time n the State of Montana. (The Chinook church entered into a similar agreement with the American Lutheran Church in Chinook).

In 2003, our church called the first CLP (Commissioned Lay Pastor) to serve as Pastor with Glacier Presbytery.

We celebrated our Centennial, July 10-11, 1993. The congregation enjoys its ecumenical involvement and has been blessed and enriched by the close relationships maintained within the Christian community on the hi-line.
